How To Make The Perfect Gingerbread

Festive theme

There are many things that remind us of Christmas, one of them is Gingerbread. In order to celebrate the festive season, we thought we would share our Gingerbread Recipe, so that you can recreate them at home! So let's get started shall we...

You will need -

700g Plain Flour

2 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda

2 tsp Cinnamon

5 tsp Ground Ginger

350g Dark Brown Sugar

250g Butter

120g Golden Syrup

How to Make Them:

Before you start mixing any ingredients make sure you preheat your oven to 170ºC

Step One:

Beat together the dark brown sugar, butter, and golden syrup. Separately, mix the plain flour, bicarb, cinnamon, and ground ginger. Add the dry ingredients to the sugar and butter mix, and make bread crumbs from the mixture. Once you have made a bread crumb, mix in 2 eggs.

Step Two:

Now you have your  gingerbread dough, roll it out to the thickness of a £1 coin and cut out into shapes. (If the dough is quite wet, roll out between two sheets of parchment paper)

Step Three:

Bake at 170ºC  for 13 minutes. Be aware that smaller shapes will take less time to bake, and larger shapes will take a little longer to bake.
